Croc 2 remaster launches on PS4 and PS5 on Oct. 29

Argonaut Software will release Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on October 29. Versions for Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC follow the same day.

Argonaut Software will release Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on October 29. The remaster will also arrive the same day on Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam and GOG.

The developer opened a month-long celebration called Croctober to mark the relaunch and first teased the remaster after the 2025 release of the Croc: Legend of the Gobbos remaster. The announcement comes just over 29 years after the first Croc title debuted on PlayStation.

The remaster updates the 1999 sequel with enhanced visuals and a range of quality-of-life improvements aimed at modern controllers and displays. One major addition is Croc2pedia, an in-game museum that collects behind-the-scenes materials from the original Croc 2 development.

Croc2pedia will include 3D models of content cut from the original game, original design documents, promotional and marketing assets, and a 90-minute Croc2mentary made up of interviews with members of the original development team and the remaster crew.

Gameplay adjustments expand Croc’s move set, adding a triple-jump alongside his signature tail-spin attack. The remaster includes more than 40 levels across four villages, each designed to represent a different Gobbo culture. New enemy Guardians listed by the developer include Soveena the Squid, Cannon Boat Keith and Flavio the Thermal Fish.

Players will follow the original story: Croc searches for his long-lost parents and works to rescue Professor Gobbo from Baron Dante while collecting and freeing Gobbos across the game world.

Jez San OBE, Argonaut’s founder, described the project as: “Croc 2 takes Croc beyond his first adventure, with four distinct villages, new ways to explore, and his search for his long-lost parents at the heart of the story.” He added that “sharing that adventure with another generation of players on October 29 is something very special.”

Argonaut has not announced pricing or editions for the remaster. Croc 2 originally launched in 1999 as the sequel to the franchise’s PlayStation debut; the new release will make the series available on current consoles and PC platforms.
