Cygames Confirms Project Awakening Is Still in Development
Cygames confirmed Project Awakening remains in development and is ‘starting to take shape,’ president Koichi Watanabe said. Platforms and a release window were not disclosed.
Cygames confirmed that Project Awakening, an action role-playing game first announced in 2016, remains in development. President Koichi Watanabe said the project is “really starting to take shape.”
The title was shown as a PlayStation 4 exclusive in 2018. A trial build subtitled Arise received a rating in 2019 but was not released.
The company issued the update as part of its 15th anniversary communications. Watanabe described steady progress and said the development team works each day with growing confidence that elements are coming together.
Watanabe noted the overall direction of the game has not changed and that the team has continued polishing the project while adding elements as development proceeds.
Cygames did not identify which platforms the game will appear on or provide a launch timetable. No new footage or specific release plans have been shared since the 2018 presentation.
The statement confirms development is active, but detailed information about timing and supported platforms remains unavailable.
