Date Everything’s Self Care Update Adds Pronouns, Subtitles
Team17 and Sassy Chap Games released the Self Care Update for Date Everything on Nintendo Switch, adding player pronouns, song subtitles, screenshot mode, key rebinding and sensitivity-led fixes.
Team17 and Sassy Chap Games released the Self Care Update for Date Everything on Nintendo Switch on June 11, 2026. The update marks the game’s first anniversary and introduces player pronoun options, subtitles for songs, a screenshot mode, key rebinding and a range of dialogue and sensitivity fixes.
The pronoun change option is available through the Skylar Specs menu and can be adjusted at any time. Screenshot mode allows players to temporarily remove the dialogue textbox for cleaner captures. Key rebinding lets players remap controls to their preference. The SPECS interface was updated for clearer visibility and now includes a description for every level.
Accessibility additions include subtitles and descriptive text for musical numbers performed by Miranda, Bodhi and Keyes to assist hearing-impaired players. Content Aware support was added for Hector, Friar Errol and Farya, and existing Content Aware descriptions were expanded and reworded based on player feedback.
Dialogue and character interactions were altered in response to community sensitivity feedback. New voice lines addressing player pronouns for Curt and Rod were recorded by Davied and Jacquis. Daisuke (Tsuji) recorded additional Traveller dialogue for interactions with Gaia.
Other specific changes include an additional line for Eddie that remembers if the player does not drink alcohol; the option to win Bathsheba’s affection without antagonizing Barry; the ability to skip an introductory explanation of “shade” with Curt and Rod; and clarified Gaia dialogue so players can state Traveller origins using information in the Date-a-Dex. Negative references to multiple personalities in Lyric were removed. Sensitivity-focused choices were added or revised for Farya, Arma, I, Ronaldini, Freddy, Mitchell, Maggie, Scandalabra, Stefan, Stepford, Teddy and Zoey.
The update also tightens the screenshot HUD and the temporary textbox removal feature to improve in-game image capture. Content Aware entries across the game received additional detail where players had raised concerns.
Date Everything is a sandbox dating simulation in which players can pursue relationships with a wide range of targets, including objects, concepts and glitches. The game features voice performances from Troy Baker, Matt Mercer, Ali Hillis and Ben Starr, among others. Team17 and Sassy Chap Games said the update reflects player feedback gathered during the game’s first year.
