Dawnwalker Lets Players Storm Castle; Quests Are Optional

Rebel Wolves says The Blood of Dawnwalker can be finished by directly storming the vampire lord’s castle to rescue the protagonist’s family; almost all other quests are optional.

Rebel Wolves plans The Blood of Dawnwalker so players can complete the game by storming a vampire lord’s castle and rescuing the protagonist Coen’s family. The studio says every other mission is optional. Lead quest designer Rafał Jankowski said, “To finish The Blood of Dawnwalker, all you need to do is storm the antagonist’s castle, face them in combat, and rescue the family.”

Director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz described the quest structure as closer to pen-and-paper role playing, where players choose how to reach their goal. He added, “Almost every quest in the game is like a side quest, and they are meaningful.”

Optional missions let Coen recruit allies, improve abilities, and gather information about the vampire lord and other enemies. Rebel Wolves acknowledges the final castle encounter will be difficult without preparation, leaving room for players who attempt an immediate assault and for players who prefer to explore and build strength first.

The game advances hours and days based on player actions rather than a fixed calendar. That design means not every story element will appear in a single playthrough, and decisions about where to spend time affect which content appears.

Rebel Wolves includes several developers who worked on The Witcher 3. The studio has emphasized choice and consequence and says the design preserves one clear objective: reach the castle and bring back the family.
