Dead Gears: Space of War accused of cloning Gears, Dead Space

Dead Gears – Space of War, due May 29 on Nintendo Switch, faces criticism for a logo, key art and in-game visuals reviewers and players have compared to Gears of War and Dead Space.

The Switch eShop listing for Dead Gears – Space of War, scheduled for release on May 29, 2026, has drawn criticism over its visual presentation. Reviewers and players have compared the game’s logo, key art and in-game screenshots to elements from Gears of War and Dead Space.

The title is presented as a third-person shooter featuring a protagonist named Darius Vex. Marketing materials describe mechanics including ‘moving through shadows’ for stealth, a variety of weapons for ‘high-intensity encounters,’ an energy resource used to raise shields or deflect attacks, and equipment upgrades. Promotional art references cover-style combat while in-game screenshots do not show the specific cover mechanics associated with the Gears series.

Store images combine ruined urban exteriors that resemble cover shooters with narrow metallic corridors associated with space-horror shooters. Reviewers and players have pointed to jagged textures, low-resolution models and a generally fuzzy look in screenshots and footage. The logo and font used in key art have also been noted for visual similarity to the Gears branding.

The eShop listing identifies Consann Real Estate as the publisher. In 2026 the company released a party-style game called Fall Buddies and listed Ace Thunder: Aircraft Wingman Simulator, an aerial combat title that blends arcade combat and flight-sim visuals.

Some users have called for greater platform review of games whose visual design and marketing closely reference high-profile franchises. Other users have recommended waiting for hands-on reviews or gameplay footage after release.

The case highlights questions about the line between creative inspiration and direct imitation on digital storefronts and about enforcement of intellectual property standards by stores and platform holders.

Dead Gears – Space of War remains listed for release on May 29 on the Nintendo Switch eShop. Players will be able to assess the game after it becomes available.
