Descenders Next adds Grand Tour, Career and Spectator Mode

No More Robots has released a Grand Tour update for Descenders Next, available now in Game Preview on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and Xbox Cloud, and through Game Pass.

The update reintroduces Grand Tour challenges and restores Career Mode. The developer merged the Grand Tour challenge structure with Career progression so players can unlock parks, slopestyles and races by progressing in Career. A new Grand Tour menu lists unlocked locations. Players can complete extra challenges to earn medals and trophies and can play locations at dusk and at night.

Multiplayer now includes a spectator mode that allows players to watch matches and replays without joining. The update also adds Counter Pumping, a mechanic from the original Descenders that reduces the force of hard landings when players flick the right stick with correct timing.

No More Robots wrote that the changes responded to community feedback and that the studio shifted development priorities after monitoring social channels and player discussions to deliver these features sooner. The developer previously restored Career Mode and expanded multiplayer based on player requests. ‘All of our big updates have been led by our Descenders community, and we can’t thank you enough for the love and constant feedback you’ve been giving us,’ the developer wrote.

The update adds new parks and biomes with distinct terrain and playstyles. Descenders Next keeps a customization system with more gear options, a reputation system and in-world shops where players can spend DesCents currency. The expanded gear library includes items tied to real brands and the release brings back teams Kinetic, Enemy and Arboreal.

Core gameplay elements from the original Descenders remain, including physics-driven controls, trick systems and tools for capturing and editing replays. The update integrates challenge-based unlocks with career rewards so players can earn gear and advance through both competitive and casual modes.

Descenders Next remains listed as a work in progress in Game Preview and is available across Xbox storefronts and Game Pass. No More Robots added that more updates are planned and directed players to the game’s official site for the latest status and for reporting issues.
