Devil May Cry 5 posts record sales ahead of Switch 2 release
Devil May Cry 5 sold 2.7 million copies in fiscal 2026, surpassing its launch-year total, as discounts and a renewed anime series boosted interest ahead of the Switch 2 launch on June 23, 2026.
Capcom reported that Devil May Cry 5 sold 2.7 million copies in fiscal year 2026, the highest annual total for the title. The figure exceeds the 2.1 million units sold in the game’s launch year.
Annual sales declined after the initial surge, recovered to 2.1 million in fiscal 2023, then fell again before the FY2026 rebound. Capcom cited promotional pricing and increased visibility from an animated series, which released a second season, as factors in the recent uptick.
Discounts reduced the purchase price for new and returning players. The Special Edition for current-generation consoles has been offered in digital sales at prices near £8.74, and retail copies have been sold for under £13 during past promotions.
Other Capcom titles posted notable figures in FY2026. Resident Evil 4 sold 3.6 million units in the period, and Street Fighter 6 sold 2.0 million units.
Devil May Cry 5: Devil Hunter Edition will launch for Nintendo’s Switch 2 on June 23, 2026, more than seven years after the game’s original release.
Capcom published these numbers in its FY2026 financial results.
