Discord Nitro adds Xbox Game Pass starter; reciprocal perks

Discord and Xbox expanded their partnership with updates to Discord Nitro and Xbox Game Pass. Discord announced that Nitro will include a starter edition of Game Pass in supported regions, and Xbox plans to grant Discord Nitro benefits to eligible Game Pass subscribers starting later this month.

The integration adds a Play button that appears when a friend is streaming or showing game activity on Discord. Selecting Xbox Game Pass from that button can start play through the service where it is available, offering a direct path from chat to a playable title.

Eligible Game Pass subscribers will receive 250 Discord Orbs each month, a 1.2x Orb multiplier for completing Quests, and automatic discounts in the Discord Shop that apply without extra setup. The companies cautioned that eligibility and availability will vary by region.

The update continues prior work between the companies, including bringing Discord voice chat to Xbox consoles and enabling streaming of gameplay directly to Discord friends. The current additions aim to make it simpler to discover and launch Game Pass titles from within Discord.

Details on accessing the Game Pass starter edition and the timing of Nitro benefits for Game Pass subscribers will be shared through official Discord and Xbox channels. Xbox will provide instructions for eligible members on claiming Discord perks, and Discord’s announcement includes guidance on linking accounts and using the Play button.

Both companies indicated they will publish further updates about access and regional eligibility on their social accounts and on Xbox Wire.
