Disgaea Mayhem, an action-RPG spinoff from the Disgaea franchise, launches today on PlayStation 5 and is available on Nintendo Switch and PC. The game is listed on the PlayStation Store for PS5 and on digital storefronts for Nintendo Switch and computers.
The story follows N.A., a mercenary who takes jobs for money and has a strong sweet tooth, and Princess Tichelle, who favors flan. The pair travel together and confront groups of enemies across the game’s stages.
Combat converts the series’ turn-based tactical systems into direct-control action. Players can equip seven weapon types and switch between swords, bows, guns, fists and axes during combat. The game’s official description includes the line: “Equip seven different weapons to play in seven different ways.” The Magichange mechanic has been adapted for real-time play, allowing characters to transform or change attack modes to hit large enemy groups.
Progression keeps several franchise systems. Players can enter the Item World to power up equipment, use reincarnation to raise base stats, enhance gear and grind levels to raise damage output. The game also allows recruitment of recurring series characters such as the Prinny.
Nippon Ichi Software is offering a Limited Edition through its online store for $99.99. The package contains a copy of the game, a collector’s box, an Art of Mayhem artbook, the Hellscape Original Soundtrack, an acrylic stand of N.A. and Tichelle, and an acrylic keychain.
The publisher’s description highlights numerical growth through familiar systems and a feature called the Dark Chocolate Assembly, which affects in-game numbers and progression. Disgaea Mayhem brings the series’ item progression and large-damage mechanics into a real-time action format while retaining core customization and leveling systems.
