Donkey Kong 64 Hits Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack

Donkey Kong 64 is now available in the Nintendo 64 – Nintendo Classics app for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers who have the Expansion Pack, Nintendo announced on June 4, 2026 via its Nintendo of America Twitter account.

The game was developed by Rare and originally released for the Nintendo 64 in 1999. It is a 3D platformer that centers on the Kong characters defending DK Island from King K. Rool and his Kremling forces.

Players can switch between Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Tiny Kong, Lanky Kong and Chunky Kong, each with unique abilities that affect exploration and combat, the company noted in the announcement.

The listing places Donkey Kong 64 in the Nintendo Classics range for the console’s Nintendo 64 app on Switch. Access requires the Expansion Pack tier of Nintendo Switch Online; subscribers with that tier can download and play the title through the app.

The addition adds one of Rare’s late-1990s console titles to the Nintendo Classics collection available to Expansion Pack subscribers.
