Donkey Kong 64 launches on Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack
Donkey Kong 64 joins Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack on June 4, 2026, with five playable Kongs, the DK Rap and four-player split-screen multiplayer.
Donkey Kong 64 is available on Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack beginning June 4, 2026. The Nintendo 64 – Nintendo Classics app delivers the 1999 Rare platformer to subscribers and includes five playable Kongs, the DK Rap and four-player split-screen multiplayer.
Players can select Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Tiny Kong, Lanky Kong or Chunky Kong as they explore DK Island and its surrounding isles. The game follows the original campaign: King K. Rool strands a mechanical isle near DK Island, kidnaps the Kong family and Donkey Kong must recover Golden Bananas and confront the villain.
Each Kong has distinct movement and abilities required to reach areas, solve puzzles and unlock progression. The release preserves the original collectibles and upgrade systems that drive advancement across the game’s levels and isles.
Local multiplayer supports up to four players in split-screen battle arenas. The release includes competitive minigames and local matches in addition to the single-player adventure. Nintendo’s announcement highlighted both the island-spanning campaign and the local multiplayer options.
Nintendo wrote in its announcement: “Play as Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Tiny Kong, Lanky Kong, and Chunky Kong as they fight to keep DK Island safe from K. Rool and his Kremling crew in Donkey Kong 64, available now on the Nintendo 64 – Nintendo Classics app for #NintendoSwitchOnline + Expansion Pack members!”
The company noted the same version will be available to subscribers in Japan on June 4, with a different trailer and regional screenshots on Nintendo’s Japanese site. The addition joins the library of Nintendo 64 titles available through the Expansion Pack tier of Nintendo Switch Online.
