One year on, DOOM: The Dark Ages Premium DLC still missing
One year after the PS5 release, buyers of DOOM: The Dark Ages Premium Edition who paid $30/£30 have not received the promised campaign DLC.
Exactly one year after DOOM: The Dark Ages launched on PS5, players who bought the Premium Edition for an extra $30/£30 still have not received the advertised campaign DLC. id Software has not released the expansion or published a full reveal.
The Premium Edition included 48 hours of early access, a skin pack, a digital artbook and the soundtrack, along with the promise of a future campaign expansion. The base game is currently discounted in the PlayStation Store by about 67%, with the price reduced to roughly £32.99/$34.99.
id Software has provided only limited updates on the expansion. In February, game director Hugo Martin described the new content as “basically like a sequel” and added, “I know it’s been a while since we’ve shipped the main game and you’re waiting for the DLC, but just know that it’s freaking huge.” The studio has not given a release date or a detailed timeline.
Since launch, the studio has released three Ripatorium maps and other small additions, but the promised campaign expansion has not shipped.
Players have discussed the delay on community forums. One user wrote that repeated vague updates and a year without the campaign have left buyers frustrated, pointing out they paid extra at launch. Another participant responded that development can take time and that a delayed release may avoid a rushed product.
The difference between early adopters who paid for the Premium Edition and current buyers able to buy the base game at a steep discount has been noted by several players. Many are awaiting a formal reveal or release date from id Software.
