Dragon Quest 40th anniversary stream set for May 27
Yuji Horii said Square Enix will livestream Dragon Quest’s 40th anniversary on May 27 and reveal the next mainline game along with other announcements.
Yuji Horii told the KosoKoso podcast that Square Enix will host a livestream on May 27 to mark Dragon Quest’s 40th anniversary and reveal the franchise’s next mainline entry.
He indicated the broadcast will focus on the new title and include additional announcements. Square Enix will present the stream and has not published a schedule or guest list.
Horii did not provide release dates, platforms or gameplay details for the next game. No formal release window was announced during the podcast.
A recent rating listed a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Dragon Quest XI S. Square Enix has not confirmed that release or tied it to the May 27 presentation.
Horii described the planned content as “various other things besides the next title.”
Dragon Quest launched 40 years ago. The follow-up to Dragon Quest XI S has been anticipated since that release, and the May 27 livestream is the publisher’s first confirmed public reveal for a new numbered Dragon Quest title.
