Nintendo announced during a Direct that Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World will launch on Nintendo Switch and the newer console referred to as Switch 2 on Dec. 3. The title is part of the Dragon Quest Monsters spin-off series.
A gameplay trailer shown during the presentation focused on creature scouting and recruiting, turn-based combat and a few seconds of overworld movement that appeared to run smoothly. Screenshots released with the reveal provide additional views of the game’s visual style and interface.
Nintendo specified the Dec. 3 release for both the original Switch and the Switch 2, placing the game among the platform’s year-end releases.
The December launch follows the scheduled Switch 2 release of Dragon Quest XI S: Shadows of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition in September. Dragon Quest XII: Beyond Dreams remains without a release date.
The reveal did not include extended gameplay demonstrations or detailed information on online features, post-launch support or a full list of playable monsters. Nintendo has not provided a timeline for further updates; more specifics are expected from the company and the game’s publisher.
The game is scheduled to arrive on Dec. 3 for both Switch models.
