Dreamwalker launches on Switch the same day as Nintendo Direct

Gentle Troll released Tavern Talk Stories: Dreamwalker on Nintendo Switch eShop on June 9; the launch coincided with a Nintendo Direct announced about 24 hours earlier.

Gentle Troll released Tavern Talk Stories: Dreamwalker on the Nintendo Switch eShop on June 9. The visual novel is a prequel to Tavern Talk and is available with a launch discount and a bundle that includes the original game.

Dreamwalker is set roughly 34 years before Tavern Talk in the shared setting of Asteria. Players work behind the bar of the Drowsy Dragon, serving magical drinks to tabletop RPG-inspired patrons. Ingredients and combinations can change characters’ personalities, alter their fortunes, and influence which quests they take on.

The developer estimates a first playthrough will take about 10 hours. The game includes three endings and branching outcomes across multiple playthroughs. Mechanics refine the mix-and-serve gameplay of the original: players collect rumours from tavern-goers, combine ingredients to craft beverages that affect NPC behaviour, and use gathered information to create quests.

Dreamwalker launched on the Switch eShop at £13.99 / $15.99 with a 10 percent launch discount. A bundle that includes Dreamwalker and the original Tavern Talk is listed at £29.50 / $33.99.

Nintendo announced a Direct roughly 24 hours before it aired on the same day. The presentation included new information on an Ocarina of Time project and on Kingdom Hearts IV.

The prequel expands the timeline and introduces a new cast while using the series’ existing narrative choice and drink-mixing mechanics, offering a self-contained story that connects to the original game.
