Duskfade arrives on Switch 2 Aug. 13, evokes PS2 classics

Developer Weird Beluga and publisher Fireshine say 3D action-platformer Duskfade will release on Switch 2 on Aug. 13, 2026, drawing on PS2-era titles like Kingdom Hearts and Jak & Daxter.

Weird Beluga and publisher Fireshine confirmed Duskfade, a 3D action-platformer, will release on Nintendo Switch 2 on Aug. 13, 2026. The announcement came during the Future Games Show and was accompanied by a new trailer and promotional screenshots.

Fireshine presented the dated release during the show and described the title as “a love letter to the PS2 classics.” The publisher had earlier listed a 2026 release window for PC and PlayStation 5.

Duskfade will be available on Switch 2, PC and PlayStation 5. A playable demo for PC and PS5 is available starting today. Fireshine has not confirmed a physical edition for Switch 2.

The story follows a young hero named Zirian after an event plunges the world into permanent night and traps his sister inside the Clock Tower. Zirian travels with a mechanical companion called Cuckoo to find the secrets of the Master Clockmakers and to free his sister from an entity referred to as Despair. Environments include ethereal forests, underwater areas, sun-scorched dunes and floating cloudlands.

Gameplay mixes precision platforming and action combat. Players use moves described by the developer such as slashing, grinding, jumping and grappling to move through levels. Each stage features set pieces and traversal challenges, with off-path areas that hold hidden items and rewards.

Fireshine and Weird Beluga released a trailer and screenshots with the dated announcement. The publisher has not disclosed plans for post-launch support, cross-platform save transfer or specific performance targets for Switch 2.

Weird Beluga is a Spanish developer. Its prior game, Clid the Snail, launched in 2021 on Steam and PlayStation and received a “Mostly Positive” rating on Steam and mixed reviews on PlayStation according to review aggregates. Duskfade is a larger third-person project for the studio and is presented as an homage to early-2000s console platformers with a stronger narrative focus than the studio’s earlier title.
