Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition on Switch 2 August 28

Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, with the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, launches on Nintendo Switch 2 on Aug. 28 after a delay for optimization.

The official Elden Ring X account confirmed Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition will arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 on Aug. 28. The package includes the base game and the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.

The Switch 2 version was delayed after early previews highlighted performance and optimization problems. The publisher reported the extra development time was used to address those issues. The port’s final performance and stability will be evaluated when the game ships later in August.

Shadow of the Erdtree continues narrative threads connected to Miquella and follows characters who rose to become Elden Lord. The expansion introduces new bosses and adds gear, abilities, weapons and armor for players to find.

Tarnished Edition bundles the original game with the expansion for Nintendo’s next-generation handheld-console hybrid. The Aug. 28 date is the first confirmed release date for this edition on the Switch 2 platform.

Early previews prompted the delay; reviewers and players will assess whether the additional development time improved the Switch 2 port after release.
