Escape the Backrooms Lands on PS5, Xbox With Cross‑Play

Escape the Backrooms is available now on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game is listed at $12.99 on the PlayStation Store; pricing on Xbox Series X|S varies by region and storefront. The title first appeared in PC early access in 2022 and reached a full PC launch in 2025. Cross‑platform play allows PS5, Xbox and PC players to join the same sessions.

The game puts teams of up to four players into environments drawn from Backrooms lore. Players must find exits across more than 30 distinct levels. Each level offers different escape routes. A no‑clip mechanic lets players pass into other parts of a map, which can separate teammates and require group members to search for one another.

Escape the Backrooms uses a minimal user interface, realistic visuals and ambient audio to create a tense setting. Hostile entities with different behaviors appear on levels; some can detect sound. The game supports proximity voice chat so teammates can coordinate when close together. For a run to count as successful, every surviving party member must reach an exit.

The developer added content and new levels during the early access period and after the 2025 full launch. The console versions include the content added through that development cycle and the game continues to receive updates aimed at expanding level variety and challenge.
