ESRB Lists Minecraft for Nintendo Switch 2

The Entertainment Software Rating Board published a separate rating for Minecraft that names Nintendo Switch 2 as the target platform. The listing classifies the game as E10+ for fantasy violence and notes in-game purchases.

The new entry appears on the ESRB website and is listed separately from the PlayStation 5 and Switch/Xbox Series pages. The content descriptors match those used on other modern Minecraft listings.

The ESRB page does not include developer comments, a product description, package name, release window or regional availability. Neither Mojang nor Nintendo has issued an announcement about a dedicated Switch 2 version.

The existing Nintendo Switch edition runs on the Switch 2 through backward compatibility. The separate ESRB entry is a distinct product page filed with the rating board.

The rating was posted days after Minecraft Live revealed new in-game content, a Dungeons sequel and promotional material connected to the franchise’s second movie.

If Mojang and Nintendo release a native Switch 2 edition, differences from the current Switch build could include improved visuals, performance optimizations and support for additional input options such as mouse controls. The ESRB listing does not specify any feature upgrades.

Minecraft has a long history of platform-specific releases and frequent content updates. The ESRB entry represents a Switch 2-specific product filing and does not confirm a release date or detailed feature set.
