ESRB lists PS5, Xbox Series ports of Mafia: Definitive Edition

The Entertainment Software Rating Board has posted ratings for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S editions of Mafia: Definitive Edition on its website. Community members noticed the entries, which list the platforms but include no release dates or technical details.

Developer Hangar 13 and publisher 2K have not issued statements or announced the ports. The ESRB entries name the 2020 remake specifically, indicating the listing applies to the Definitive Edition rather than the original 2002 game.

A native PS5 build would be compiled to run on PlayStation 5 hardware rather than relying on backward compatibility. The rating does not provide information about performance, graphical upgrades or other platform-specific features.

Some community members suggested the update might be offered as a free upgrade for existing owners. Hangar 13 and 2K have not confirmed pricing, upgrade policies or a release window.

Mafia: Definitive Edition was released in 2020 as a full remake of the 2002 action-adventure title. The game follows Tommy Angelo, a cab driver in the fictional city of Lost Heaven in the 1930s who becomes involved with Don Salieri’s crime organization.

The title was recently discounted on the PlayStation Store and has since returned to a $39.99 price. There is no official feature list or comment from publisher or developer in response to the ESRB listings.
