A team of former Sony, Naughty Dog and Infinity Ward developers has released Crossfire for Xbox Series X|S, making the game available to Series X and Series S players through Microsoft’s digital storefront.
The release was handled by a studio formed by industry veterans who previously worked on major console and shooter franchises at those companies. The Xbox edition is intended to reach console players and to use the hardware capabilities of Series X and Series S.
Multiplayer remains the focus of the Series X|S edition. Competitive modes from the franchise were preserved, and the team added controller support and console matchmaking. The release includes Xbox account integration so players can sign in with existing Microsoft profiles. Cross-play is under review as developers monitor technical performance and community feedback.
Engineers and designers on the project said the porting process concentrated on input responsiveness, network stability and adapting interface elements for TV screens and controllers. Technical notes from the launch list optimizations to reduce load times and to keep frame pacing consistent on both Series X and Series S hardware.
Developers plan post-release updates to address gameplay balance and connectivity as the player base grows. “We focused on input responsiveness, network stability and adapting the UI for TV screens and controllers,” the studio wrote.
Crossfire began as an online first-person shooter franchise with most of its success on PC and in specific regions. Multiple teams and partners have previously worked to bring the franchise to consoles; this release adapts the title for Microsoft’s current-generation systems.
