JRPG Exstetra Gets Western PC Release; PS5 Remaster Planned
Exstetra, a 2013 Japan-only PS Vita JRPG in which the protagonist powers up female allies by kissing them, will release on PC via Steam on July 30; a PS5 remaster is in development.
The publisher announced that Exstetra will be released for PC via Steam on July 30, marking the game’s first official western release.
Originally released in Japan for the PlayStation Vita in 2013, Exstetra is a turn-based role-playing game. Players control Ryoma, a lead character who transfers a shared energy resource to his female allies through kisses to boost their combat effectiveness.
Combat is turn-based and party-focused. As Ryoma recruits new characters, the kissing mechanic transfers power that changes allies’ abilities in battle. The mechanic is tied to narrative events and character interactions, and players expand the party through the story.
The publisher said a PS5 remaster is in development but offered no release window or technical details for that version. It is unclear whether the remaster will include visual upgrades, additional content, or updated controller support.
No pricing information or system requirements for the Steam release have been disclosed. The PC edition will be the first official western release of a title that remained exclusive to the Vita in Japan for a decade.
The Steam launch follows a pattern of handheld and region-locked Japanese games being localized or ported to PC and current-generation consoles for western markets.
