Fable delayed to Feb. 2027; Xbox Showcase to show new look

Microsoft and Playground Games announced that Fable has been moved out of its planned 2026 window and will launch in February 2027. The publisher said the change will allow the game to “have the dedicated moment it deserves.”

A “major new look” at the title will be presented at the Xbox Showcase on June 7. Microsoft did not specify what will be shown or provide further schedule details for the event.

Playground Games, based in the U.K., is developing the next Fable and has confirmed the game will launch day-and-date on PlayStation 5 alongside other platforms. The planned PS5 release marks the franchise’s first appearance on a Sony console.

Industry observers tied the revised launch window to Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto VI, which is scheduled for release on Nov. 19, 2026. Microsoft described the timing change as driven by presentation and visibility considerations rather than development setbacks.

Playground Games has not released an independent update to its development timetable and offered no additional public comment. Microsoft’s announcement confined the new release information to the month of February 2027 and the June 7 showcase preview.

Fable is being positioned as an action role-playing title. The showcase presentation will provide the next substantial update ahead of the confirmed February 2027 release window.
