Fable returns at Xbox showcase; due Feb 2027
Playground Games debuted a new story trailer for Fable at the Xbox Games Showcase and confirmed a February 2027 release. The cast includes Hayley Atwell and Richard Ayoade.
Playground Games presented a new story trailer for Fable during the Xbox Games Showcase and confirmed the game will launch in February 2027. Xbox previously announced the delay to avoid a simultaneous release with Grand Theft Auto 6, giving the studio additional development time.
The studio released a full cast list alongside the trailer. Notable names include Hayley Atwell, who provides the voice of the villain Isabel, and Richard Ayoade. Further casting details are available through official Xbox channels.
The story trailer shows sequences of combat and magic, including encounters with a Balverine and a large toad-like creature. Footage highlights both melee and spell-based combat, several action set pieces and some mature language. The trailer also follows multiple characters beyond the player-controlled Hero.
Fable is Playground Games’ first title outside racing. The studio plans to use the extra development time to refine story work, performance capture and gameplay systems.
The trailer did not list a full day-one feature set. Playground Games has not released final details on multiplayer, progression systems or technical specifications; those topics are expected to be addressed in future updates ahead of the February 2027 release.
