Fallout 3 and New Vegas getting PS5 remasters

Bethesda confirmed in a studio letter that it is developing remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas for PlayStation 5. The letter did not include release dates or release windows.

The remasters were listed among several projects the studio plans over the next few years. Bethesda did not specify whether the titles will appear on platforms beyond PlayStation 5. Reports of remastered editions had circulated before the announcement.

Fallout 3 launched in 2008 as the first Fallout title developed by Bethesda after the company acquired the franchise from Interplay Entertainment. The game is set in the Washington, D.C., area roughly 200 years after a nuclear war and introduced an open-world design and new gameplay systems to the series.

Fallout: New Vegas was released in 2010 and was developed by Obsidian Entertainment. The game is set in and around the city of New Vegas and the Mojave Desert. New Vegas has sold more than 11 million copies worldwide.

Bethesda’s studio letter did not provide technical details about the remasters, including whether they will feature updated graphics, improved performance, restored content, which teams are handling the work, or whether community-created fixes will be incorporated.

Players will need to wait for further updates from Bethesda for release dates, platform rollouts beyond PlayStation 5, and full technical specifications of the remastered editions.
