Fate/Extra Record remake dated Jan. 28, 2027

Fate/Extra Record, a PS5 remake of the 2010 PSP RPG Fate/Extra, will launch Jan. 28, 2027 on PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Aniplex will publish Fate/Extra Record, a remake co-developed by Meteorise and TYPE-MOON, on January 28, 2027. The release will span PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch and Windows PC. The remake updates the original 2010 PSP title for current consoles and PC.

The game takes place inside SE.RA.PH, a digital world on the Moon, and centers on a version of the Holy Grail War in which Masters and Servants compete for an artifact that can grant any wish. An official description reads: “Set within SE.RA.PH, a vast digital world hidden on the moon, 128 Master-Servant pairs battle in a deadly contest fueled by their bonds and deepest desires. In the end, whose wish will the Holy Grail grant?”

Players assume the role of a Master and form a bond with a Servant to enter the Holy Grail War. Combat uses strategic command battles built around custom decks of Command cards. Decks differ by the contracted Servant, with each Servant offering distinct appearances and abilities that affect deck construction and tactics.

During encounters, players assemble and adjust decks from a wide range of Commands to counter opponents. The game pairs deck-building with fast-paced action and pronounced skill animations tied to each Servant’s abilities.

Meteorise and TYPE-MOON developed the remake for multiple platforms to bring the title beyond the original PSP release. The launch covers both current and previous PlayStation consoles, Nintendo’s current and forthcoming Switch hardware, and Windows PC, all set for the January 28 street date.

Fate/Extra first appeared on the PlayStation Portable in 2010 as a spin-off entry in TYPE-MOON’s Fate franchise. Fate/Extra Record updates the game’s premise and systems for modern hardware while retaining the core Master-Servant framework and command-card combat.
