Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth adds cheats and level-65 head start

A new PS5 patch for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth adds selectable cheats-constant max HP/MP, always-full ATB and gauges, 2x EXP/3x AP and more-and a ‘New Game – Head Start’ at level 65.

Square Enix has released a patch for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on PlayStation 5 that adds selectable cheats and a ‘New Game – Head Start’ option. The update is available now and brings the same progression features that were added to the game’s Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 releases.

The patch introduces a range of in-game options players can toggle, including constant maximum HP and MP, always-full Limit and Synergy gauges, an always-full ATB gauge, and constant maximum damage. Other modifiers include doubled experience gain and triple AP, easier weapon ability acquisition, increased material drops, constant maximum gil and recovery items, max materia levels and max damage for minigames.

The new main-menu option labeled ‘New Game – Head Start’ lets a player begin a new campaign at level 65. With the game’s level cap set at 70, starting at level 65 skips most early and mid-game progression and grants immediate access to higher-level abilities and gear.

Cheat options appear in the pause menu during play, while the Head Start selection is chosen from the main menu before creating a new save. Based on how similar options behaved in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, enabling these options did not disable Trophy progress; if the PS5 patch works the same way, players who enable cheats should still be able to earn Trophies.

Patch notes also list several minor bug fixes. Square Enix describes the additions as “streamlined progression features” intended to let players move through systems and encounters at a faster pace or reduce challenge where desired.
