Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo, save transfers on Switch 2

Square Enix released a free Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo on the Switch 2 eShop. It includes the first two chapters, transfers progress to the June 3, 2026 release, and grants bonuses for Remake Intergrade saves.

Square Enix released a free eShop demo of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth for Nintendo’s Switch 2 that covers the game’s first two chapters. Progress made in the demo will transfer to the full release on June 3, 2026.

The demo is available now on the Switch 2 eShop. Square Enix confirmed any progress saved during the trial will carry over so players do not need to repeat those sections in the retail version.

Players with save data from Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, including the Intermission episode, will receive additional content or rewards when Rebirth detects those saves. Square Enix has not listed every reward tied to save transfers and noted that some transfer-linked bonuses will be available.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth continues the remake project’s story after Cloud and his companions leave Midgar. The game adds larger explorable areas, new characters and encounters, chocobo exploration, and other gameplay changes compared with the earlier release.

Square Enix has supported the Switch 2 since the console’s launch last June, and Rebirth is the publisher’s biggest title for the system so far. The full game is scheduled to launch worldwide on June 3, 2026.

The demo lets Switch 2 owners evaluate combat, exploration and presentation on Nintendo’s hardware before deciding to buy the full game. Carried-over progress is intended to make the transition from demo to full playthrough smoother.
