Final Fantasy VII Revelation dated April 8, 2027; FITS combat

Square Enix announced Final Fantasy VII Revelation will launch April 8, 2027, and released a gameplay trailer showing expanded world exploration and a new FITS combat system.

Square Enix announced Final Fantasy VII Revelation will arrive on April 8, 2027, and released an extended gameplay trailer during a September 3 PlayStation State of Play broadcast. The studio confirmed the game will launch simultaneously on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.

The trailer showed wider world exploration. Players can travel across an expanded planet aboard the Highwind airship, visit the warrior nation of Wutai for the first time in the remake series and return to locations such as Gongaga. The presentation highlighted larger-scale exploration and more freedom of movement than earlier remake entries.

The preview confirmed a full party that includes Cloud, Tifa, Barret, Yuffie, Red XIII and Cait Sith, and added two playable characters: Cid and Vincent. Revelation uses a fully assembled party model that allows players to swap active characters at any time and assign specific party members to particular quests. Those assignment choices can change how some story events and gameplay scenarios unfold.

Revelation introduces a combat framework called FITS. The system assigns role types — Warrior, Knight, Black Mage and Summoner — that alter characters’ abilities and combat functions. The preview showed FITS enables different tactical combinations within the party and changes how individual characters perform in battle.

The trailer also highlighted options to customize the gameplay experience through party composition and task assignments, which affect both fights and narrative sequences. Square Enix described Revelation as the third and final installment in the Final Fantasy VII remake project.
