Freddy Krueger, Beetlejuice and FNAF Join Fortnitemares 2026

Epic Games released the Fortnitemares 2026 cinematic trailer, which shows horror characters arriving on Fortnite’s Battle Royale map ahead of the Halloween event.

The trailer presents a range of licensed characters and a recent film prop. Viewers see a Freddy Krueger skin and animatronic skins for Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie and Chica moving through dim corridors. Beetlejuice appears rising from a grave in his striped suit. Asta from Black Clover is shown in his anti-magic devil form. The Purge’s Lady Liberty and Slender Man appear as skins, and the One Wish Willow prop from the 2026 film Obsession is shown briefly; Epic has not provided further details on the prop.

The cinematic uses the fan-made track ‘Join Us for a Bite’ by JT Music, a song inspired by Five Nights at Freddy’s: Sister Location.

Fortnitemares 2026 begins on October 1, 2026, after the v42.30 update. That update will add new sprites and variant cosmetics named Birthday Sprite, Reaper, Trick or Treat, Gummy and Holofoil, and will include bug fixes.

The event will temporarily alter the Battle Royale map with Halloween-themed elements. The characters seen in the trailer are expected to be offered as purchasable cosmetic skins in Fortnite’s item shop. Epic has not given an exact closing date; the event typically runs through the end of October.

Epic has released only the cinematic preview so far. Further information about in-game modes, challenges, pricing and additional cosmetics is expected with or after the v42.30 update.
