Forza Horizon 6 Tops 2026 Metacritic Rankings
Forza Horizon 6 holds the highest Metacritic score of 2026 at 92. A PS5 port is due later in 2026. Grand Theft Auto 6 and Marvel’s Wolverine are among upcoming challengers.
Forza Horizon 6 sits atop Metacritic’s 2026 rankings with a score of 92, the only 2026 release so far to exceed a 90. The PlayStation 5 version is scheduled for later in 2026; Microsoft has not provided a specific release date but its media materials list a PlayStation edition this year.
Developer Playground Games acknowledged it did not have the resources to complete the PS5 port for the game’s initial launch, prompting the delay. Forza Horizon 5 received a PS5 release several years after its original launch and sold more than five million units on Sony’s console.
Critics have given high marks to the current version of Horizon 6; the PlayStation edition will enter review coverage when it is released.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is a major upcoming title that could challenge Horizon 6 on aggregate scores. Grand Theft Auto V earned a 97 on Metacritic in 2013.
Two releases scheduled for September are also contenders: Phantom Blade Zero, a wuxia role-playing game from S-GAME, and Marvel’s Wolverine from Insomniac Games. Insomniac’s previous Marvel’s Spider-Man titles and the Miles Morales spin-off received high critic scores.
Other potential challengers include first-person shooter Metro 2039, the Tomb Raider remake subtitled Legacy of Atlantis, and a reboot of Fable if it meets its planned release window. Additional unannounced titles could appear before year-end.
At present, Horizon 6 leads aggregated critic scores for 2026. Several major releases scheduled for the rest of the year will be reviewed and may affect the rankings.
