Forza Horizon 6 Tops Metacritic’s 2026 Rankings, Xbox Leads

Forza Horizon 6 has the highest Metacritic critic score for 2026 to date, with an average of 92, and Xbox platforms account for the majority of entries in Metacritic’s current top 10 for the year. Metacritic aggregates critic reviews by title and by platform, and its reporting rules produce differences between the multiplatform table and platform-specific lists.

Metacritic’s multiplatform ranking includes technically new releases and uses the platform with the largest number of reviews to represent a game’s overall score. Platform-specific lists show the score for each console separately. Those rules can change a title’s position between tables when review counts and scores vary across platforms.

For example, Resident Evil Requiem posts a 93 average on Xbox, but its multiplatform average appears lower because the PlayStation 5 version has a larger review sample and scores 89. Hades 2 is the highest-rated title on the Xbox list with a 95 average but is not included in the multiplatform new-release table under the site’s criteria.

Metacritic’s current multiplatform top 10 for 2026 lists Forza Horizon 6 at 92, followed by Pokémon Pokopia at 89, Resident Evil Requiem at 89, Mewgenics at 88, SAROS at 87, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard – Gold Edition at 87, Hermit and Pig at 87, Perfect Tides: Station to Station at 86, OPUS: Prism Peak at 86, and Nioh 3 at 86.

On the Xbox-specific list, Hades 2 leads at 95, followed by Resident Evil Requiem at 93, Forza Horizon 6 at 92, Mixtape at 92, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade at 88, Vampire Crawlers at 87, Pragmata at 87, Monster Hunter Stories 3 at 86, Reanimal at 83, and Marathon at 83.

Review counts affect representation on the multiplatform table. Mixtape averages 92 on Xbox based on nine critic reviews but averages 86 on PS5 with 33 reviews; because the PS5 review sample is larger, that score becomes the representative multiplatform average and moves the title down in the overall ranking.

Forza Horizon 6 was developed by Playground Games and released as a first-party title on Xbox platforms. Metacritic’s scores reflect critic reviews available at the time of reporting; rankings and averages can change as additional reviews are published or new releases enter the year’s slate.
