Free PS Store demo for PS5/PS4 remaster of Geppy-X
A free PS5 and PS4 demo of PS1 title 70’s Robot Anime Geppy-X is available on the PlayStation Store, playable to Stage 4 and a branching event. The full remaster launches July 16, 2026.
Implicit Conversions and Bliss Brain Corporation have released a free demo for the PS5 and PS4 remaster of the 1999 PS1 game 70’s Robot Anime Geppy-X on the PlayStation Store. The single-player demo is playable up to Stage 4 and includes a key branching event; players who purchase the full remaster can continue from that point. No PlayStation Plus subscription is required to download or play the demo.
The original Geppy-X was a Japan-only single-player scrolling shooter. The remaster reproduces the main story and stages from the 1999 release and preserves the original audio and music for the PS5 and PS4 versions. The full remaster is scheduled for release on July 16, 2026.
Voice work in the remaster retains the original Japanese cast, featuring Akira Kamiya, Shō Hayami, Shūichi Ikeda, Ichirō Nagai and Gorō Naya. The soundtrack includes themes by Isao Sasaki, Akira Kushida and Hironobu Kageyama. Subtitles will be provided in English, Japanese, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Korean, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese.
Technical restoration used original Betacam source tapes re-digitized to 24 frames per second. An optional upscaling setting is planned to arrive shortly after launch. The remaster adds gameplay options such as a Rapid Fire mode, CRT display filters and a digital gameplay manual.
The demo is available now on the PlayStation Store for PS5 and PS4. The remaster will be released for both platforms on July 16, 2026.
Originally released only in Japan, the 1999 title maintained a niche following for its 1970s anime styling and shooter mechanics. The remaster includes the preserved audio and music plus localized subtitles to support an international release.
