Free PS5 Demo Lets Players Try Screamer’s Drift-and-Boost Racing

Milestone’s Screamer, an anime-style arcade racer that launched in late March, has a free demo available on PlayStation 5. The demo includes the early Tournament single-player events and a playthrough of the game’s drift-and-boost combat systems. The full PS5 version is scheduled for release later this year.

The demo provides access to the opening portion of the Tournament campaign so players can test core driving and combat systems before buying the full game.

Driving centers on aggressive, boost-driven racing. Players use the right analog stick to drift through turns; maintaining speed fills a boost meter. Spending boost activates strike moves that can disable rivals. Each driver has a unique special ability that alters how a player approaches races.

Visually, Screamer pairs anime-style storytelling with exaggerated vehicle designs and fast-paced course layouts. The demo emphasizes driving and combat mechanics rather than extended story sequences.

A reviewer wrote, “It’s really refreshing to play a new racer that goes against the grain and tries some fresh ideas,” and noted that the game has flaws.

Screamer released on other platforms in late March; the PS5 demo gives players a preview of the console version.
