Free PS5 upgrades released for two Metro shooters
Deep Silver and 4A Games have released free PS5 upgrades for Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux, with improved graphics and performance for eligible PS4 owners.
Owners of the PS4 versions can download the native PS5 editions from the PlayStation Store at no additional cost. The Metro Redux Next-Gen Update covers both remastered games and keeps their original gameplay and atmosphere.
The update improves textures, lighting, shadows, particle effects, animations and environmental details. Players can choose native 4K resolution at 60 frames per second or upscaled 4K at 120 frames per second when using a compatible television or monitor.
The games support PSSR upscaling on PS5 Pro. The update adds DualSense adaptive trigger support, higher-quality audio, hardware tessellation and displacement effects. It also includes bug fixes and quality-of-life changes requested by the community.
Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux follow Artyom, a survivor living in Moscow’s underground Metro system after a nuclear apocalypse. In Metro 2033 Redux, he warns other settlements about an approaching threat. Metro: Last Light Redux follows his involvement in a conflict between rival factions seeking control of a powerful weapon.
The next game in the series, Metro 2039, is scheduled for release on Feb. 4, 2027.
