Gamers Give Summer Game Fest 2026 a 6.8/10 in Forbes Poll
A Forbes.com poll of 4,032 readers gave Summer Game Fest 2026 an average score of 6.8 out of 10; 62% rated it good or excellent and 15% called it poor.
A Forbes.com poll of 4,032 readers ran June 10–16, 2026, immediately after Summer Game Fest 2026. Respondents rated the show on a 1–10 scale and evaluated announcements, presentation and entertainment value. The sample consisted of readers who opted into the survey.
The festival received an average score of 6.8 out of 10. Sixty-two percent rated the event good or excellent, 23% gave mixed reviews and 15% called it poor.
Respondents pointed to new trailers and gameplay reveals as the strongest elements: 54% said they were most impressed by those reveals. Forty-eight percent said they planned to follow at least one announced title more closely or consider a purchase.
Criticisms focused on missing release windows and technical issues. Forty-two percent cited a lack of concrete release dates. Technical problems such as audio drops and buffering were reported by 29% of respondents. Host segments and interview pacing were described as too long by 36%.
Self-identified “hardcore” gamers gave a mean score of 6.2 and referenced expectations for deeper gameplay details and release dates. Casual players averaged 7.4 and reported they enjoyed quick looks at upcoming titles. Asked about show length, 55% favored a shorter, more tightly curated format and 45% preferred the current multi-hour format with multiple publisher streams and indie spotlights.
Nearly three-quarters of respondents said they relied on publisher pages and social media for post-show details. About 22% reported watching only highlight reels rather than the full livestream, citing time constraints and the event’s length.
One respondent, a 27-year-old who identified as a PC gamer, wrote: “There were some real highlights, but the show felt padded in places and I wanted more release dates.” Another reader praised the indie segment and wrote: “I discovered two new studios I’ll be following — that’s always worth it.”
Summer Game Fest 2026 took place in early June as a global livestream paired with separate publisher showcases and hands-on demo events. The festival has run annually since 2020 and serves as a platform for first looks at upcoming console, PC and mobile titles.
The poll results reflect immediate reactions from a self-selected sample of Forbes readers who opted into the survey.
