Gears of War: E-Day runs at 60 FPS on Xbox Series X

State of Unreal 2026 showed 60 FPS Xbox Series X tech footage of Gears of War: E-Day, a demonstration of Unreal Engine 5 lighting, reflections and environmental detail.

At State of Unreal 2026 The Coalition presented new footage of Gears of War: E-Day running at 60 frames per second on Xbox Series X. The sequence was shown as a technical demonstration built on Unreal Engine 5.

The demo emphasizes dynamic lighting, reflections, material detail and post-processing effects. Developers highlighted how lighting systems and surface materials contribute to scene fidelity while aiming to keep the presentation at a steady 60 FPS.

Kate Rayner of The Coalition described the demo as pushing Unreal Engine 5 and the hardware it runs on to their limits, and highlighted work on lighting, materials and post-processing that focus on realism and performance.

The footage was presented as a controlled tech demo rather than a representation of final in-game performance.

Alongside the tech footage, a Raven Extract cinematic was released introducing Specialist Daan Riggs.

Gears of War: E-Day is scheduled to launch on October 6. An open beta will run in August and will be available to players who pre-order any edition. There has been no confirmation about access for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members.

The Coalition is developing the title as an Xbox console exclusive on Unreal Engine 5. The new footage follows an earlier reveal at an Xbox showcase and was framed to highlight engine and console capabilities.
