Gears of War: E-Day launches Oct. 6, 2026

Gears of War: E-Day launches Oct. 6, 2026, on Xbox Series X|S and PC. Microsoft confirmed there will be no PS5 or Switch 2 versions.

Microsoft announced at the Xbox Games Showcase that Gears of War: E-Day will launch on Oct. 6, 2026. The game will release for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC only; Microsoft confirmed there will be no versions for PlayStation 5 or Nintendo’s next console.

E-Day is a prequel set 14 years before the 2007 original. The story returns players to Marcus Fenix and Dominic “Dom” Santiago as subterranean creatures called the Locust Horde erupt from beneath human settlements and force a coordinated response.

The showcase included a dedicated segment for E-Day that presented gameplay footage and details about the period and characters the game will explore. Developers said the narrative focuses on the initial outbreak and the military and civilian reactions to the threat.

The platforms listed are Xbox Series X, Series S and PC. The October release date gives players on those platforms a clear launch date for the campaign and related single-player content.

E-Day fills in earlier events in the franchise timeline that lead into the 2007 game. The announcement sets the release schedule for the title and confirms platform availability ahead of the October launch.
