Ghost Recon Wildlands PS5 Upgrade Available Today

A free PS5 upgrade for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands is available today after a PlayStation Store listing briefly appeared and was removed. The listing followed an earlier Xbox Store entry and identified a new single-player expansion called The Last Rites.

The store listing said the PS5 update includes native 4K at 60 frames per second, 3D Audio support, faster loading using the PS5 SSD, and haptic feedback and adaptive trigger effects for DualSense controllers. The update would also deliver quality-of-life improvements and new cosmetic items alongside the The Last Rites story expansion.

The listing indicated Ubisoft planned to release the update after its Ghost Recon 25th Anniversary Showcase. The PlayStation page was taken down after details were shared online, but images of the listing circulated before its removal. Ubisoft has not issued a formal statement confirming the timing beyond the material seen in the store entry.

To coincide with the update, Ghost Recon Wildlands will be free to play on PlayStation from August 6 through August 10. The game is currently included in the PS Plus Extra catalog and is on sale in the PlayStation Store. New buyers can purchase the title for $4.99 now and are expected to be able to claim the PS5 upgrade when it appears.

Ghost Recon Wildlands launched in 2017. The open-world action game is set across a fictionalized Bolivia and features cooperative, tactical third-person play. Players take the role of an elite unit tasked with dismantling a powerful drug cartel, using drones, helicopters and a range of ground vehicles to coordinate raids across varied terrain.
