Report: God of War ‘Laufey’ Likely Arriving in 2027

Reporter Jason Schreier wrote on social media that the PS5 exclusive God of War Laufey is “not years away” and replied “definitely not” when a commenter suggested a 2028 release.

Santa Monica Studio introduced Laufey during State of Play, showing nearly 20 minutes of gameplay and visuals without attaching a release date or window. The studio has not confirmed a launch month or year.

Earlier this year, industry insider NateTheHate posted that a new God of War would center on the character Faye and could arrive in the first half of 2027, barring setbacks. That post also anticipated a reveal in the same year.

Santa Monica Studio began work on the next entry after God of War Ragnarök launched in 2022. A release in 2027 would be about five years after the previous major installment.

Sony and Santa Monica Studio have not publicly confirmed the game’s lead character or production timeline. Fans and industry observers are awaiting an official release date.
