God of War: Laufey Delayed To May 2027 On PS5
Santa Monica Studio has delayed God of War: Laufey from Feb. 16 to May 20, 2027. The PS5 exclusive needs more time for development, the studio said.
Santa Monica Studio has moved God of War: Laufey’s release date from Feb. 16 to May 20, 2027. The game is being developed exclusively for PlayStation 5.
In a post on its official account, the studio wrote that the delay would give the team more time to create “an extraordinary experience worthy of the passion and dedication” of God of War fans. The developers will use the additional time to add finishing touches and continue work before launch.
God of War: Laufey was announced earlier this year during a State of Play broadcast. The game will follow Faye, also known as Laufey, rather than Kratos, who has led the most recent entries in the series.
The story begins after Faye’s death. She awakens in Everywhen, an afterlife where gods from different mythologies fight for ultimate power. The game’s official description says Faye discovers that the plans she made to protect Kratos and Atreus are at risk.
Faye will use legendary weapons as she searches for answers and tries to protect her family. Ariel Lawrence is directing the game.
Deborah Ann Woll is set to reprise her role as Faye after appearing in God of War Ragnarök. Jack Quaid and Perlina Lau are also part of the cast and will play characters who assist Faye during her journey.
Santa Monica Studio expects to provide more updates before the new release date.
