God of War Laufey: Faye Enters the Everywhen

God of War Laufey places players in the Everywhen after Faye’s death, where fallen gods from multiple pantheons — including Sekhmet and Begtse — appear.

Santa Monica Studio’s upcoming God of War title, Laufey, places players in the Everywhen immediately after Faye’s death. The studio framed the concept with the question “What happens to gods when they die?” The Everywhen is described as a space populated by fallen deities from multiple mythologies.

A roughly 20-minute gameplay trailer shows players controlling Faye as she arrives in the Everywhen. The trailer introduces Sekhmet, the Egyptian goddess of war, and Begtse, a Mongolian war god, and includes varied locations, creature designs, combat set pieces and dialogue excerpts.

Developers Cory Barlog and Ariel Lawrence discussed the setting in a video interview, describing the Everywhen as a way to place familiar characters in unfamiliar circumstances. Barlog identified Faye and the returning character Sindri as figures the team wanted to revisit while expanding the franchise beyond its established setting.

The preview did not list every deity. The footage and context suggest gods from the Greek pantheon whom Kratos killed in earlier games could appear, including Zeus, but the studio has not confirmed a full roster.

The preview highlights the studio’s art and gameplay teams, showing environments and character designs that bring together gods from different traditions through staged encounters and scripted interactions.

The God of War series began with Kratos’ conflict against the Greek pantheon. Later entries moved to Norse mythology and centered on Kratos and his son. Laufey shifts focus to Faye and treats the deaths of gods as a starting point for narrative and exploration.
