God of War Laufey lands Feb. 16, 2027 for PS5

Sony Interactive Entertainment announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2026 that God of War Laufey will release for PlayStation 5 on Feb. 16, 2027 and will be available on disc as well as digitally.

Santa Monica Studio described Laufey as a PS5-exclusive action-adventure that centers on Kratos’ wife, Laufey, also known as Faye. The studio released an official overview of the story.

“Death was supposed to be the end, but for Laufey (Faye), warrior and wife to Kratos, a new adventure is just beginning. Awakening unexpectedly in a strange land after her death, Faye discovers the plans she put in place to protect Kratos and Atreus in her absence are now at risk. To save the ones she loves, Faye must fight through the afterlife of the gods — the Everywhen — where ruthless gods from across mythology vie for power in a land overflowing with dangerous magic.”

The announcement confirmed the exact launch date and the physical edition but did not include details on preorders, pricing, special or collector’s editions, or a gameplay walkthrough. The studio did not specify whether the game will include multiplayer features or expand platform availability beyond the PS5 label.

Santa Monica Studio also revealed an untitled follow-up that will return focus to Kratos and is described as tied to Laufey’s story. No release window, platform details, or development timeline were provided for that project.

God of War Laufey follows the studio’s recent entries set in Norse mythology. The 2018 God of War and God of War Ragnarök established the franchise’s recent narrative approach. The studio has not said whether Laufey’s story will directly connect to events in Ragnarök or how the Everywhen setting relates to earlier mythologies.

Sony’s surprise date gives a firm target for retailers and players. Additional information, including trailers, gameplay footage and preorder details, may be released in the months ahead of the February 2027 launch.
