God of War Spin-Off Laufey Appears Targeted for 2027

Reporter Jason Schreier wrote on social media that God of War spin-off Laufey is nearing release on PlayStation 5 and that multiple sources point to a 2027 launch. He added that the absence of an official release window should not be interpreted as the project being years away.

In the post, he wrote: “FWIW I wouldn’t read too much into God of War Laufey not getting a release date or window – in contrast to a lot of other big announcements, this one isn’t years away.”

Santa Monica Studio released a 20-minute gameplay segment showing interrupted footage from the start of the adventure. The clip presented playable mechanics and early narrative scenes and did not include a formal release date or window.

Observers have noted the demo’s length and the visible polish in controls, pacing and systems. Those features are consistent with examples of titles that are well into development.

Laufey centers on Faye, the wife of Kratos, and is being developed by Santa Monica Studio for the PS5. The project shifts focus from Kratos to Faye and expands the series timeline.

If the title launches in 2027, it would align with recent timing of major PlayStation releases appearing before a hardware transition. The studio has not confirmed a release date and has not provided further comment beyond the official gameplay materials.

Publishers and developers commonly wait to set firm release windows until certification and marketing plans are in place, so the schedule could change. Fans and market watchers will look for updates at future events and company presentations.
