Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee remaster launches Nov. 3

Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered, rebuilt on Unreal Engine 5, arrives on PS5 Nov. 3 for $29.99 with new visuals, online multiplayer and an updated unlock system.

Atari will release Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered for PlayStation 5 on Nov. 3 at a $29.99 price point. The game has been rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 and features completely redone visuals, online multiplayer and a revised unlock system.

Atari’s press release describes the project as a full remake despite the “Remastered” title and states: “The visuals throughout the game have been remastered from the ground up to enhance the cinematic experience of the original. Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered also features gameplay updates, as well as an improved unlock system, so you can unlock monsters, locations, and gallery items in any order you choose.”

The PS5 version includes enhanced character models and environments, online matchmaking and an improved progression loop that lets players choose the order in which they unlock monsters, locations and gallery items. The release also adds single-player campaigns for each monster and expands the arcade-style modes from the 2002 game.

Gameplay mixes one-on-one arena fighting with objective-based modes that task players with causing maximum environmental damage. The remaster preserves the close-quarters brawling of the original while updating presentation and online functionality.

Original developer Pipeworks is reported to be handling the remake. The 2002 title first launched as a GameCube exclusive and later reached Xbox; this release will bring the franchise back to PlayStation hardware for the first time in over 20 years.

The Nov. 3 date precedes a major open-world release scheduled later in November; several publishers have avoided direct competition in the later part of the month. Atari has multiple titles listed for November.

Atari has not released full details on multiplayer features, platform-specific performance targets or post-launch support. Additional information and technical specifics are expected closer to the release date.
