Godzilla PS2 Classic Gets PS5 Remaster
Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered is available for PS5 from the PlayStation Store, with the standard edition priced at $29.99.
Atari and original developer Pipeworks released Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered for PlayStation 5 on Nov. 3, 2026. The game is also available for Microsoft Windows, Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch 2.
The remaster updates the 2002 fighting game with enhanced visuals, gameplay changes and quality-of-life improvements. An updated unlock system lets players obtain monsters, locations and gallery items in any order.
The game has 12 playable kaiju, each with its own attacks and abilities. The roster includes Heisei-era Godzilla, Godzilla 2000, Anguirus, Gigan, Megalon, King Ghidorah, Mecha-King Ghidorah, Rodan, Destoroyah, Orga and Mechagodzilla. The remaster replaces Mechagodzilla 2 with the original 1975 version of the character.
Players can fight in eight interactive arenas, including real-world cities, Monster Island and the Alien Mothership. Each location has day and night variations. Objects in the arenas can provide cover or be thrown at opponents. Every kaiju has a single-player campaign.
The remaster retains local co-op and adds online multiplayer. The PlayStation Store describes the game as an updated version of the original fighter with enhanced visuals, eight battle locations and matches featuring special attacks.
The standard edition includes the base game and costs $29.99. The $34.99 Digital Deluxe Edition adds Burning Millennium Godzilla (2025), a black Mechagodzilla and a black-and-white movie filter. The original Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee was released for PlayStation 2 in 2002.
