Gran Turismo 7’s free Spec IV update arrives Oct and Dec 2026

The free Spec IV update for Gran Turismo 7 will arrive on PS5 in two parts, October and December 2026, adding two circuits, 12 cars, Online Drift Trials, Shuffle Races and Family Mode.

Polyphony Digital will roll out the free Spec IV update for Gran Turismo 7 on PlayStation 5 in two parts, with the first release in October 2026 and the second in December 2026. The update adds two circuits, 12 additional car models and several new game systems.

The October release will add Sportsland SUGO in Japan, a circuit known for its elevation changes, flowing layout and the Dunlop bridge. The December release will add Autumn Ring, a track that first appeared in the original 1997 Gran Turismo.

Across both parts the studio will add 12 car models; specific makes and models have not been published. New online features include Online Drift Trials, which assess control, precision and style, and Shuffle Races, which randomize conditions for online competition.

Other additions include new Driving Experiences, an expanded Car Viewer, new progression elements and a Concierge feature to assist with in-game car purchases. Family Mode, scheduled for the December update, is presented as an accessible starting point for players with different levels of driving experience.

Polyphony Digital cited the update’s size as the reason for the split release, saying the approach will ease distribution and let players access content sooner. The update is free for PS5 owners and continues support for the game since its 2022 release, with timing ahead of the 30th anniversary of the original 1997 title.

Technical specifics, the full car list and detailed descriptions of the new Driving Experiences and progression systems have not been published. The developer plans to share more information at Gran Turismo World Series Round 3 in Singapore on October 3, 2026, and in further studio updates before each release.
