Grounded 2 opens Brookhollow pond Aug. 11 with Toe-biter Buggy

Into the Abyss launches Aug. 11, opening Brookhollow Park’s pond for surface and underwater play with new diving gear, underwater zones and an amphibious Toe-biter Buggy.

Grounded 2’s Into the Abyss update arrives on Aug. 11, opening the surface and submerged areas of Brookhollow Park’s pond. The update adds new underwater zones, extended diving equipment and the amphibious Toe-biter Buggy.

The map expands to include regions such as the Mountains and the Bayou, which lead into deeper sections beneath the pond. New diving suits increase underwater time and allow access to deeper passages and previously unreachable locations, enabling progression tied to underwater exploration.

Players will encounter returning creatures such as koi and diving bell spiders, and new threats that inhabit the pond’s depths. The Toe-biter Buggy can operate on both land and water, permitting movement between shorelines and submerged points of interest and changing tactical options during encounters.

The developer noted the update builds on underwater elements from the original Grounded and that community feedback influenced diving mechanics and level design. A studio statement read, “We’re excited for players to finally get their hands on it.” The studio added that Brookhollow Park will receive further areas, creatures and systems in future updates.

Into the Abyss focuses on exploration and gear progression rather than a single linear objective. The pond includes environmental challenges and puzzles tied to remaining underwater, and rewards that require upgraded equipment or deeper dives. The area supports solo and cooperative play and maintains the game’s emphasis on survival and base-building.

Grounded 2 is available in Game Preview on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC, in Early Access on Steam and PlayStation 5, and on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass. The Aug. 11 update will apply across those platforms.
