Grounded 2 on PS5: Omni-Tool and Rideable Buggies

Grounded 2 launched on PS5 in early access this month, adding an Omni-Tool and rideable buggies to speed exploration and combat; solo play feels less balanced.

Grounded 2 arrived on PlayStation 5 in early access this month. The release adds an Omni-Tool and rideable buggies while keeping the game’s multiplayer-focused survival systems.

Obsidian Entertainment developed the title. The story follows the same group of teenage characters shrunk to insect size and is set in a new area called Brookhaven Park. The early access build uses the original Grounded’s core systems as a foundation while additional content is being developed toward a full release.

The Omni-Tool replaces multiple specialized tools and cannot be broken or lost, removing repair and replacement mechanics. Rideable creatures called buggies increase movement speed and can absorb incoming damage up to a limit.

Gameplay centers on resource gathering, base building and combat against swarms of hostile insects. Weapon types and encounter design in the current build favor cooperative play; encounters and resource requirements scale to benefit teams, which can make solo runs more challenging and less balanced.

A PlayStation 5 early access review scored the build 8 out of 10 and highlighted the Omni-Tool and buggies as practical improvements. Obsidian is keeping the game in early access to add story elements, enemies and systems before a final release. A digital review copy was provided by the publisher.
