GTA 6 fans target May 12 for trailer, PS5 pre-orders

Fans have focused on May 12 as a likely date for a new GTA 6 trailer and for Sony to open PlayStation 5 pre-orders. They cite the date’s nine-day distance from Take-Two’s May 21 earnings call, a scheduled gaming magazine digital issue on May 12, and a PlayStation Store calendar gap before a sale that begins May 13.

A previous GTA 6 trailer appeared nine days before Take-Two’s earlier earnings call, and supporters of the May 12 theory point to that timing pattern.

The gaming magazine’s digital issue and the lack of planned PlayStation Store sales on May 12 are among the scheduling clues fans highlight. Some expect a cover reveal or a coordinated announcement on that date.

Recent leak reports indicate PlayStation 4 remains the second most used platform for GTA Online. Sony has encouraged PS4 owners to upgrade ahead of GTA 6, and some observers say Sony could begin PS5 pre-orders or related promotions if Rockstar announces final platform details. Previously, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said Sony secured a PS5 marketing deal for GTA 6.

Rockstar moved the game’s release from May 26 to November 19 and previously stated its marketing cycle would start in the summer. The publisher has released little new footage since the last trailer more than a year ago.

A PlayStation editor wrote: “We’re not really buying the May 12 rumor specifically, but we reckon we will see more of Rockstar’s latest over the next month or so.”

Take-Two’s May 21 earnings call remains a milestone industry watchers will monitor. If Rockstar follows the same nine-day pattern, an announcement or trailer would fall in early to mid-May, though the companies have not given a specific promotional timetable.
